What should I expect during adult care appointments?

Vital signs check

Your internal medicine specialist weighs you and assesses your body mass index (BMI), pulse, blood pressure, and other vitals signs.

Medical history review

Dr. Raja asks about your medical history, including medications you take, symptoms you have, lifestyle habits, and your personal and family history of disease.

Physical exam

During a physical exam, he listens to your breathing and heartbeat and evaluates your eyes, ears, throat, neck, abdomen, and more. Dr. Raja offers prostate exams for men and pelvic exams, along with Pap tests, for women.

Diagnostic testing

If needed, Dr. Raja orders urine tests, blood tests, sleep studies, heart- or lung-function tests, allergy and asthma testing, X-rays, or other imaging procedures.

Treatment

If you need treatment for any reason, Dr. Raja tailors a treatment plan that matches your needs. He may recommend making lifestyle changes, getting more rest and fluids, taking medications, using an inhaler, or treating sleep apnea.

He also offers vaccinations, birth control for women, and referrals to a specialist if you have a serious or complex medical problem.
